The two humans behind this
Welcome, human.
We’re Shane and Julia, two bags of cells who are living, parenting, and working in the Kansas City area. Julia’s a long-time digital product creator, and spends her working hours at the newest edges of AI and how it can be applied to our daily lives for the better. Shane works in architectural acoustics, designing gathering places (concert halls, temples, etc.) where connections are fostered between people through the use of sound.
We both think a lot about connection for a living, and we both are seeing first-hand how much of it is quietly slipping onto screens and — in increasing amounts — artificial attachment. This is especially top of mind for us as the parents of two young kids.

Analog Human started as a couple of social & family experiments and gradually became a conviction: the more powerful the technology we utilize by day, the more deliberately we need to protect the stuff that reminds us what it means to be human. The stories we create & share, the ability to work with our hands, the long dinners, and the ability to belly laugh while we look one another in the eye.
This site and newsletter are the beginning of how we move beyond some ad-hoc events and conversations, and into real momentum together, with you. (And yes, we see the irony of a digital experience in this context, but after all we live in 2026.)
Sign up to hear more as it develops (newsletter stories, workshops, and other local events). Or get in touch directly with a note at hello@analog-human.com.
